Of crucial importance was the introduction of a new currency. As Chancellor, this was introduced by Gustav Stresemann in November 1923 in order to tame hyperinflation. He replaced the old worthless currency with a new one, the Rentenmark. One Rentenmark replaced 1,000 billion marks and the supply of the new currency was restricted to 3.2 billion Rentenmarks meaning that the problem which triggered the recently ended hyperinflation (printing money) could not be repeated.Secondly as part of the 1924 Dawes plan that Stresemann negotiated, the amount of reparations per year was lowered, though the total amount would remain...............
